Your guide to destination weddings: Fiji
September 30, 2014
Destination weddings are truly something special. Celebrate your love with your closet friends and family on the beautiful tropical island nation of Fiji. Wondering where to start? Here are some tips and tricks:
Scouting out a venue
There are a number of absolutely stunning resorts that will make for a delightful venue for your wedding. Hideaway Resort lives up to its name – it feels like a hidden treasure tucked away in the untouched area of the island. The resort is known for hosting luxurious and exotic weddings. Be sure to also check out Shangri-La Fijian, The Warwick and Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa.
Filling out the paperwork
When planning your wedding, there will inevitably be practical measures you need to take to ensure everything is legal and under control. Tie up any loose ends before you set off and you can fully enjoy your time away without worrying that you forgot something.
This includes filling out all important paperwork. You will need to apply for a marriage license. Those who are wanting to get married in Fiji have to obtain and sign a marriage license in the country before they are married. If you've chosen a resort as your venue, they may handle the legal documentation side of things before you even arrive. In this case, you'll have to send photocopies of the documents needed to the resort a couple of weeks before you arrive.
Adapting to your location
Fiji is utterly glorious, but you should bear in mind it is a tropical island and plan accordingly. Find foundation that has sun protection and is waterproof, choose shoes that will be fitting for a sandy beach and opt for a beautiful white gown made out of a lighter fabric and will feel comfortable even in the heat.
